I feel this position will allow me to succeed because my interpersonal and negotiating skills will help me establish meaningful relationships with stakeholders, my Facilitation skills for knowledge- sharing among cross-culture Asia, African and Pacific Islands and among the 3 Asian countries (Nepal, Myanmar and Bangladesh) will support to facilitate knowledge translation between Bangladesh and other Asian and African Countries. I have marketing and advocacy skills to fund/adopt/replicate the best sustainable models of care among the potential donors and funders and to the host countries. Skills to develop Business models of care. My Innovativeness fetched me LOccitane award in South Africa. Analysing the projects of its ‘Value for Money’. Lastly, but not the least my Anthropological background keeps me focused to identify the root cause and thereby working towards bottom up approach (i.e from grass root community to national level)
Experience
I have more than 30 years of experience, skills and knowledge working with national, local NGOs and at community level During my initial career 1990-1992, I worked with International Labor Organization (ILO) in the project “Employment Opportunities for Rural Women” as project coordinator as well as sociologist and later at World Food Program my role was mainly to interact with the beneficiaries (rural women) directly at the community level throughout the country. During my 13 years at USAID/Bangladesh (1992-2005) in various capacities and different port folios, I graduated to Senior Program Management Specialist and later as Team Leader and was responsible in conceptualization, planning, designing Strategic Plans and overseeing implementation of key strategies and projects. I established linkages and coordinates during my Overseas Assignment as Country Representative –Thailand & Regional Coordinator, Greater Mekong Region I was entrusted to implement two million dollar program and was responsible to oversee the implementation of the program in Greater Mekong Region, covering Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Loa, Vietnam, China and Mongolia. I worked for The Fred Hollows Foundation from 2008 til end of March 2022 as The Country Manager for the Country Office covering 52 districts and more than 151 million population and later as the Cluster Lead overseeing Country Offices of Myanmar and Nepal. During my 14 years span I have taken the FHF to great heights. Cultural Adaptable: As an Anthropologist I like going to the root causes with a bottom-up approach. I am aware of the social, cultural, myths and superstitious barriers in the uptake of any services, being a Bangladeshi I am also aware of the religious norms and values of the community and being a women (ascribed status) I am more in an advantage situation to relate with women and be able to support your organization in increasing the marginalized womenfolk in the uptake of services. Personal Interest: I am a risk taker (after doing the risk assessment) thus, I am always exploring and thus come up with innovative ideas in the adaptation of new technology and in the uptake of service that is most efficient and cost -effective. I have international exposure of Asia and the social and cultural structure and societal elements of Bangladesh do relate to most of the Asian countries.
