Research Investigator (Adv#278/2023)

icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddrb as a values-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities.

icddr,b, in collaboration with partners will implement "USAID's Community Nutrition and Health Activity (CNHA)" both at national and sub-national levels. Under CNHA, the consortium will work with different departments of the ministries, especially the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) of the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) at the national, regional, and local levels, to improve nutrition status by strengthening the community health system and support the effective implementation of the Second National Plan of Action for Nutrition (NPAN2).

Position Description:

The Research Investigator will report to the Principal Investigator. The position holder will be responsible for developing concept notes, participating in proposal and protocol writing, coordinating data collection activities, collecting qualitative and quantitative data, processing and analyzing data, and writing reports and manuscripts.

Major reponsibilities are:

• Generate new research ideas;
• Develop research proposal/protocol and overall strategy to implement the research studies/projects;
• Monitor implementation plan, reviewing consumption of resources, and prepare reports accordingly;
• Provide training to the data collection team, overseeing field activities, identify areas of improvement, and providing necessary assistance as and when required to the team;
• Analyze and interpreting data;
• Prepare various reports as required by the projects;
• Develop scientific manuscripts;
• Manage and mentoring staff and team members in the scientific arena (scientific writing, capacity building) to develop junior researchers;
• Coordinate with government stakeholders, donors, and relevant development partners;

Required qualifications and experience:

• Masters in Anthropology/Public Health/Social Science/Population Science/ Statistics/Applied Statistics/Nutrition/ Development Studies/ Sociology/Health Economics with good academic records from a reputed university;
• 5 years of relevant experience (experience in public health programs and research is preferred).

Number of Position: 02

Contract Type and Duration:

• Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk 1,21,585/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen, transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
