    The international consultant will provide technical support to build capacity of one selected National Institute to assess children's environmental health, identify the main environmental health hazards and use the findings to inform national priorities, strategies, and action plan to address CEH.

    The technical assistance will focus on building capacity in analysis of the environmental burden of disease (EBD) among children i.e., the burden of disease attributable to environmental risk factors of morbidity and mortality, impact on early childhood development and the human development index and human capital. The findings will guide government, non-government organizations and the private sector in multi-sectoral actions needed to address environmental pollution and climate change adaptation in Bangladesh.

    Minimum Qualifications/Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required: Experience of similar work with UN or UNICEF/International agencies is an advantage:

  • Postgraduate degree in public health, environmental science, economics, social science, anthropology, sociology, or other relevant disciplines would be an asset.
  • Technical expertise and proven substantial experience of at least 10 years in research in public health and environmental science.
  • Technical understanding and research experience in children's environmental health hazards and its health effects.
  • Understanding of industry and environmental risks including global and national regulatory frameworks around environmental pollution.
  • Extensive knowledge, experience in conducting cost-benefit analysis and mixed-method research analysis of toxic metals and chemicals.
  • Research experience in Bangladesh or similar country context
  • Published peer reviewed articles on country situation assessments on environmental issues, using qualitative and quantitative data collection tool design with demonstrated competency in relevant software applications for data analysis.
  • Able to show evidence of experience in developing quality high-level strategic policy briefs, journal articles, and research reports for tailored audiences.
  • Excellent report writing, and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellence in capacity building of national stakeholders from LMIC and MIC in environmental health
