    Description

    Responsibilities & Context

    Actively participate in surgical procedures, assisting surgeons and anesthetists as needed to ensure safe and efficient operations.

    Prepare patients for surgery by conducting preoperative assessments and ensuring all necessary preparations are completed.

    Monitor patients during surgery, providing hands-on support to the surgical team and ensuring that all safety protocols are followed.

    Ensure high-quality preoperative, operative, and postoperative care for all surgical patients, working closely with the OT team to address any complications.

    Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the OT, ensuring all procedures are conducted smoothly and safely.

    Prepare and maintain an inventory of OT instruments, medications, and consumables, and ensure they are available and in good condition for all surgeries.

    Ensure that all OT equipment is regularly maintained, sterilized, and ready for use in both routine and emergency procedures.

    Implement OT policies and protocols in consultation with medical officers and the Health Coordinator.

    Provide ongoing training and mentorship to OT staff and junior medical personnel on surgical techniques, patient care protocols, and safety measures.

    Stay updated on the latest surgical advancements and share relevant knowledge with the OT team to enhance overall performance.

    Assist in the assessment of patient needs and ensure that all necessary preparations are made before surgery.

    Collaborate with surgeons and anesthetists to ensure that patient care plans are executed effectively.

    Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and other safety measures.

    Maintain accurate records of all OT procedures, equipment maintenance, and staff training.

    Act as a liaison between the OT and other departments of the hospital, ensuring effective communication and coordination.

    Report to the Health Coordinator on the status of OT operations, including any issues or challenges.

    Participate in regular meetings with medical staff to discuss and resolve any OT-related concerns.

    Perform any other duties as assigned by the respective unit focal or Health Coordinator.
